The Ghetto State of Mind
The Ghetto state of mind is an intriguing concept. In my hometown this mind set is on an upscale. It has always been there but in the last 5 years its grown rampantly like wildfire. The ghetto state of mind comes in all colors and nationalities. You can identify it by how someone carries themselves and by their words and actions and how they treat others.
Let us explore this unaesthetic mind set. This mind set is at one of the lowest mindsets. In this mindset the person always has to be right, always gets their way. Putting their needs first is always on their agenda. Some examples are screaming and honking at an elderly to cross the street as opposed to a more noble mindset of going out of your way to help an elderly person cross the street. This mindset is also displayed by not letting people merge on the highway knowing that now they will now have to exit. In some states not merging is against the law but it is just human decency that the ghetto state of mind has no gasp of because their needs have to come first at the cost of all others. The higher mind set merges correctly to be a kind traveler on the road. There are numerous ways of how people show they have not matured successfully in their minds. It's not necessarily where you live (although there are some princes of demons overseeing some neighborhoods and locations.) You could live in the projects or a mansion, that does not determine if you have a ghetto state of mind. Basically, it's an infestation of all sorts of grotesque demons packed together in a little ghetto deep inside of your mind.
What provoked me to write this blog was an encounter I had at the movie theaters yesterday. I took my mom and niece out to watch the new Little Mermaid. My niece asked for popcorn and how I could I resist. So, my niece and I made our way to the concession stand. There were several lines, so my niece and I picked the closest line to us and went behind a big group of teen girls. Each girl in the line paid individually. So, it was taking a lot of time. A woman on the left side to us had made a new line. As I moved closer to the cash register with my niece the woman interrupted and said I am next. I thought this was bizarre since I was behind the girls that just paid. I could tell by her Demeaner that she had a "Ghetto State of Mind". I told her that I was in back of the girls that just paid, and she looked like she was ready to battle this one. Popcorn fight anyone?
I told her in a calm voice that she can just go ahead that it's not that serious. She just continued to give me a dirty look even after I said that. One of the guys working there overheard us talking and he told me that I could go to the next cash register that just opened up. So, the woman was still in line waiting for the girls to pay for their popcorn and I was getting my popcorn first. When I left with my popcorn, she was still left behind. I thought it my head Toodaloo.
I felt like God was teaching me a valuable lesson in that moment. That we have to be lights in this cold-hearted world. I let her go first but then I got to go first. For the first will be last, and the last will be first. Yet, the lesson is that kindness and selflessness is powerful, and it will be rewarded. Even if I did not go first, I would be rewarded with having lower blood pressure from not engaging in a fight. Not taking Satan's bait to act like fool and to go down to their level. Then as I was driving home, I let a man riding his bike cross the road and he gave me a thumbs up. I just thought to myself how good it feels to be kind! My endorphins were all fuzzy feeling and my serotonin levels where shooting to the skies.
The point is not that I am better than others. I have grace over me by belonging to the King of Kings and he teaches me to act like royalty since I am a daughter of the King. I learn the right mindset through his word and by renewing my mind daily. I still mess up and I went through a season myself of having a Ghetto State of Mind but with God's help he has me flying high with the eagles instead of having a reprobate mind which also could be known as having a Ghetto state of mind.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a REPOBATE MIND, to do those things which are not convenient. Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, maliciousness, full of envy, whispers. Backstabbers, haters of God, despiteful, PROUD, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful. Who knowing the judgement of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in that they do them.
Romans 1:18-32
They get pleasure from having an evil mind and probably take no pleasure to being kind. The world is so dark now and gets darker with each passing day. Soon most of the population will have the darkest of minds, bent on continual selfishness and evil. We are to be lights shining in this dark world. This is not to mean to let others always have their way. It is using our discernment with the Holy Spirt to know how to interact with the world. There is a time and place to deescalate and not engage in unnecessary foolish fights and a time to stand firm and hold to your boundaries and using your discernment to know the difference.
"Kindness is Power" is what I learned. Don't be basic and blend with the darkness but be unique and standout like a bright star.
Walk in the spirit and have a New Creation mindset that operates on love, joy, peace, patience, KINDNESS, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. It is now as rare as a pink diamond to conduct yourself in this manner. The Ghetto State of mind is weak, but the New Creation mind is Power.
