The Ghetto State of Mind

The Ghetto State of Mind  The Ghetto state of mind is an intriguing concept. In my hometown this mind set is on an upscale. It has always been there but in the last 5 years its grown rampantly like wildfire. The ghetto state of mind comes in all colors and nationalities. You can identify it by how someone carries themselves and by their words and actions and how they treat others.   Let us explore this unaesthetic mind set.  This mind set is at one of the lowest mindsets. In this mindset the person always has to be right, always gets their way. Putting their needs first is always on their agenda. Some examples are screaming and honking at an elderly to cross the street as opposed to a more noble mindset of going out of your way to help an elderly person cross the street. This mindset is also displayed by not letting people merge on the highway knowing that now they will now have to exit. In some states not merging is against the law but it is just human decency tha

Summer 2017 Essentials for the Christian Chic

Summer Essentials for the Christian Chic

Summer is upon on us, although you might question that, when you live in Wisconsin and its the end of May and people are still wearing scarves!! Here are my Seven Summer Essentials for the Christian Chic. It is a mix of Mind, body and Soul must haves.

1. Off the Shoulder Shirt shirt or dress. This is my favorite fashion trend for this summer. I love this look!

2.  Journaling bible.  I have the Inspire Journaling Bible. This bible  encourages you to make your own drawings or motivational sayings  on the sidelines. You can be as simple or as fancy as you want to be. This is a great way to have some fun and be creative. This bible was very inexpensive at around 20 dollars. This is a great way to meditate on the word of God. So get out those gel pens!

3. Smoothies!! I was very tempted to say Mojitos and not smoothies but we can not keep this list never ending right?? Try to add smoothies in your summer ritual! Be careful of making them all filled with just  fruit because that can really pack on the calories. Opt for more of a veggie packed smoothie with no fruit or a small amount in there. Ginger is a nice twist to add. Yum!! Try reading the Green Smoothie Recipe book.
Also check out Sherri Moore, she is a Woman of Faith sharing her beautiful pictures of her smoothies on Instagram and you can also check her out through facebook. She is so inspiring! https://www.instagram.com/onehealthynut/?hl=en and also on facebook.  www.facebook.co/SherLM

4.   Prayer!   1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.   Lets be focused on Prayer this summer. Life is hard sometimes so lets be focused and not distracted on meaningless things. Prayer is powerful and is our weapon of warfare! Spend time in prayer and mediate on Gods's promises like your life depended on it!. For some inspiration you could watch the movie the "War Room". Meditate on one of God's promises each week. Recommended books are Power of a praying mom by Stormie Omartion or the Battle Plan for prayer by Kendrick.

5.  Graphic Tee Shirt.  Make your own Graphic Tee Shirt with a Christian saying! I picked up a couple of cheap black and white Tshirts and some acrylic paint. You can watch some you tube videos to help you get started.

6. A good book!!  You can't go through summer with out a good book while laying out in the sun relaxing! You could join the Proverbs 31 Ministries online book club. They are going to be reading, Me, Myself and Lies. I will definitely be checking this out!   http://proverbs31.org/online-bible-studies/  Another book on my hit list is Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst. I usually do not read novels but I challenge myself to reading at least one fiction book per summer. Here is a link of some Christian summer
books.   http://www.thebeautywithin31.com/reading-list-christian-women-inspiration/  The fiction book I will
be looking forward to reading is The Red Tent.

7. Worship! Here is another weapon of war! Another great habit to do daily. You could pick a worship song that fits in with your weekly meditation scripture. I am really loving the song, Good, good father by Chris Tomlin and No longer slaves by Bethel music.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8TkUMJtK5k

Those are my Seven Summer Essentials for 2017! Have a blessed summer!
